Day one
London. Arrived just after 18.30. Totally shattered after 24 hrs in trainsit. We literally were off then back on the plane in Singapore and Dubai. The last leg with Emirates was in the skybus. Average service compared to the previous legs we flew. The food was lovely and lots of it, except on the airbus. Mind you, 24 hours of prepacked food is enough to make anyone lose their taste.
David and I got the skyrail for E36. 20 minutes later we were at Paddington Station with 50 odd kg of luggage between us. The walk to the Novotel wasn’t more than a kilometre from the train but we were ready to dump our gear and start afresh. Lack of sleep on the plane was affecting us more than we thought. In addition to the luggage, being incredibly tired and somewhat lost, a wheel on my suitcase was damaged on the flight rendering it useless for the function I intended it for. I dragged it to the hotel.
Being totally grateful for a bed, shower and clean clothes we followed this up with a trip to sainsburry’s for some ‘crisps’ and other light snacks before tucking in for one of the best sleeps we’ve ever had.
